On February 3rd, RMI held its 5th in a series of Manufacturing 4.0 workshops to help educate manufacturing companies on how digitization provides quantum leaps in performance and to connect them to valuable resources. The sold out Friday meeting at Plank Industries’ City Garage Foundery provided attending firms with a variety of resources to help them take the next step on the “Road to 4.0 and Beyond.” The event featured nine top line presenters representing critical 4.0 resources, each providing a snapshot presentation to help address various company needs ranging from 3D scanning/printing, to energy sensors, to big data integration and cyber security.
Companies had an opportunity for immediate follow up in taking the next step. Attending manufacturers saw great utility in the presentations which came from both public and private sector resources. One manufacturer said he saw great value in the meeting because it allowed him to review what’s available to help his firm and now he has the information to take a deeper dive on a topic most relevant to his business. Prior RMI 4.0 workshops included presenters from PWC on their Industry 4.0 report: “Building the digital enterprise;” and hands-on transformational 4.0 experiences at Lion Brothers, Xometry and Marlin Steel Wire Products. These small to medium-sized companies are on the road to 4.0 and are excellent examples of the organizational culture changes required.
