GM Baltimore Operations has been nominated as a Champion of Maryland’s manufacturing industry by RMI for having demonstrated the ability to innovate and execute upon that innovation and deliver new product or processes to the market.  GM Baltimore is the exclusive manufacturer of the A1000 Transmission for GM and is gearing up to build an all-new hybrid transmission.  GM is the first major U.S. automaker dedicated to manufacturing the critical components for vehicle electrification. GM engineers highlight the fact that this facility has as much data and IT capability as there is physical machinery. With 27 robots that whirl about throughout the new brightly lit factory with utmost precision, GM engineers are quick to speak to the value automation like this brings to the production process citing increased flexibility, quick changeover, retooling and enhanced continuity.

RMI will celebrate these champions at our signature fall event on November 30 called “A Tribute to Champions of Maryland Manufacturing.”  RMI signature events typically draw over 600 manufacturing stakeholders and provide the premier networking environment for the manufacturing industry.  This event will serve as the launch of RMI’s new “Image Campaign” to help educate policymakers, educators and the media about today’s manufacturing and how it impacts our future economic growth.
